Guy Eshed

Biography

Guy Eshed, First Flute of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, has performed as soloist with the orchestra under Zubin Mehta. He has headed the flute sections of other orchestras including the Florence Opera House Orchestra, the Berlin National, the Manchester Chamber, and the Swedish Radio. After completing his military service he was appointed First Flute of the Haifa Symphony and since 2001 he has been First Flute of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under Barenboim. He has played as Guest Principal Flute with leading orchestras including Bavarian Radio, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Mahler Chamber, London Philharmonic, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Bamberg Symphony and La Scala Opera orchestras. In chamber music he has appeared in prestigious venues and festivals in Europe, and recorded for leading radio networks. Since 2015 he has been a faculty member of the Tel Aviv University School of Music, and gives masterclasses at the Juilliard School of Music.
