Biografi

Ukrainian baritone, Andrei Bondarenko, is one of the most exciting young baritones of today, having worked extensively with Valery Gergiev, Ivor Bolton, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Vasily Petrenko, Enrique Mazzola, Kirill Karabits, Teodor Currentzis, Emanuelle Villaume, Michael Sturminger, Omer Meir Wellber, Alain Altinoglou, Daniele Callegari, Lorenzo Viotti and Cornelius Meister.

The 2018/19 season includes his role and house debut as Don Giovanni at Palm Beach opera and returns to Opernhaus Zurich for a new production of Cosi fan tutte (Serebrennikov), his role debut of Wolfram in Tannhäuser. In concert he will sing Rachmaninov The Bells, with the Houston and Dallas Symphonies. In seasons to come he will give his company debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden as well as Semperoper Dresden. He will also return to Opera Australia and Dallas Opera.

Andrei regularly performs at Opernhaus Zürich, Palm Beach Opera, Münchner Opernfestspiele, Bayerische Staatsoper, München, Scottish Opera, Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow, Oper Köln, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Dallas Opera, Oper im Steinbruch St Margarethen, Vilnius City Opera, Israeli Opera, Tel Aviv, Perm Opera, Mariinsky Theatre, St Petersburg, Perm Opera, Teatro Real de Madrid, Glyndebourne Festival and Touring Opera, Oper Stuttgart.

He has collaborated with conductors including. Cornelius Meister, Ranzani, Giacomo Sagripanti, Lorenzo Viotti, Giampaolo Bisanti, Nick Carter, Ivan Repušic, Emmanuelle Villaume, Enrique Mazzola, Omer Meir Wellber, Theodor Currentzis, Dmitry Kitajenko,Ivor Bolton, and worked with directors such as David McVicar, Harry Kupfer, Grischa Asagaroff, Graham Vick, David Bösch, Tatjana Gürbaca, Dmitry Serebrennikov.

Andrei has recorded Le nozze di Figaro (Conte) for Sony Classics, Rachmaninov songs with Iain Burnside at the Queens Hall in Edinburgh for Delphian Records as well as the highly-acclaimed Lieutenant Kijé Suite on the BIS label.
Andrei won the 2011 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition Song Prize, was awarded a diploma at the Ukrainian competition «New Ukrainian Voices» and won first prize at the international vocal competition «Art in the 21st Century» in Vorzel (Ukraine). He was a prize-winner at the 2006 International Rimsky-Korsakov vocal competition in St. Petersburg, the 2008 all-Russian Nadezhda Obukhova Young Vocalists´ Festival and Competition and the 7th International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition in 2010. Andrei took part in the Salzburg Festival Young Singers Project, returning to the Festival for Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette with Yannick Nézet-Seguin and Le rossignol with Ivor Bolton.
Andrei was born in 1987 in Kamenez-Podolsky, Ukraine. He was a soloist of the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers for 8 years. In 2003 he entered the vocal department of the National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music in Kiev, Ukraine and in 2004 was admitted to the vocal department of the Kiev Conservatory. Andrei was then a soloist of the Ukraine National Philharmonic Society.
