Ketil Bjørnstad is a classically trained concert pianist, recording artist, and one of Norway’s most productive and widely read authors of numerous novels and biographies. He revealed his exceptional musical talent early, but at the age of 18 he set classical music aside and began playing with singer-songwriters, avant-garde jazz musicians and other artists on the creative 1970s music scene. In his writing, he frequently returns to artistic milieus, both contemporary and those of the art and bohemian circles in Kristiania around the turn of the last century.

CURRENT PROJECTS 2025 & 2026: EVENING SONG – AFTENSANG – SOLO PIANO / JAG ETTER VIND / NIGHTWALKER / NEW MORNING

Ketil Bjørnstad presents twilight piano music on the album “Evening Song – Aftensang”. The project began when organist and conductor Svein Rustad contacted him, asking him to compose “Aftensongar” – based on several poems from the collection “Båt på fjorden” (Aschehoug 2021). The piano pieces are inspired by light, and by leading us back into the realm of nature. They evoke the places where Bjørnstad has walked, sat and sensed for years – places that are never quite the same. Even if the seat is the same, its atmosphere and light always change. We remain in a process, as in life itself. Ketil Bjørnstad explains in Norwegian:

– I «Evening Song» er eg tilbake i intimrommet, åleine med flygelet, med alle sine moglegheiter, der alle overtonar spelar ei rolle. Klang, rytme, melodi og improvisasjon. Det har gjennom alle år vore livsprosjektet mitt. Og eg er heldig som har så mange inspirerande og proffe folk rundt meg. Dei betyr svært mykje, òg i skapingsprosessen.

(…) And it is precisely in the meeting of melody, rhythm, sound and improvisation that Bjørnstad searches for new sources. That is why none of these concerts are planned in detail. They come into being in the space between pianist and audience, between grand piano and concert hall.

We have created different types of packages that includes dinner and accommodation:

  • Concert
  • Concert and 3-course dinner in Ridderstuen ca. 15 minutes after the concert.
  • Concert, 3-course dinner in Ridderstuen ca. 15 minutes after the concert and accommodation with breakfast, on Rosendal Avlsgård & Fruehus (the most used room has a sink, whereas shared shower and toilet are in the hallway).

If one of the tickets are sold out, there may still be other kinds of tickets available for the same event. Please see events list.

We consider tickets purchased at the same email address as a group that would like to sit together for Dinner. If your tickets include accommodation, please send us an email to info@baroniet.no to specify the number of single and double rooms. The same applies if you have ordered tickets including dinner with different email addresses. After receiving a confirmation that we have reserved tickets for you, you can use Vipps: 96110 or transfer money to our bank account 3460 07 51753. Please write which tickets the transfer is payment for.

Most likely problems:

  • If the Continue button is grey, normally the required fields have not been filled in properly. The most common mistake is phone number with space in the end or some other sign. Please try 00000000 (just 8 zeros) to be able to move on. We still have your email address for shipping your tickets.
  • No printer at home? No email received? No worries, as long as the purchase is OK (money has actually left your account), you are on our lists. Just tell us which email address was used for the purchase, and we will find your order.
  • The event might be sold out even if the home page button is not updated with "sold out". The appearing message "Beklager utsolgt" means "Sorry, sold out". You may send an email to info@baroniet.no to be in a waiting list. In case of extra tickets we will handle the waiting list in the order of time and date on the emails.
  • Some banks have added extra security on Internet shopping. It is then required to log on to the Internet bank to approve the purchase.
  • If your computer is set up with the wrong date, a common certificate error message will appear. Just ignore and move on.
