History
The owner Marcus Gerhard Hoff Rosenkrone (1823- 1896) started the Home Farm
in the 1850ies as a model farm for sheep and horses. The farm proved important
for the development of local farming and avl. A school for the local children
was founded in 1875. The tutoting was financed by the owner who taught foreign
languages, history, physics and geography.
The ladies house was built around 1860 for the widow after a local priest,
Karen Unger and her daughters Pauline, Bolette and Nanna. Nanna later married
the writer Hans E. Kinck, while the three single women remained in the house
under Marcus Gerhard Hoff-Rosenkrone's protction until their deaths. The house
was called the ladies house after Karen Unger. Marcus Gerhard and his siblings
developed a near relationship with the priest Elias b. Unger at Malmanger, and
his daughter Kathinka became the love of Marcus Gerhards life. Sadly Kathink
died in 1853, only 18 years old. Marcus Gerhard never found love again after
her death. You can read more about Marcus Gerhards accomplishments in the anniversary
book from 1996; Marcus Gerhard Hoff-Rosenkrone 1823-1896, Baroniet Rosendal.
